Location: San Diego Covention Center, San Diego, CA (USA)
Date: Sunday August 27 2006 - Thursday August 31 2006

The major goal of the 2006 ISFP Congress is to highlight the most recent developments in understanding the mechanisms by which proteases, receptors and regulatory molecules contribute to disease and homeostasis. Proteases play key roles in cardiovascular disease, cancer, neurologic disease, infectious disease, inflammation, muscular dystrophinopathies, lung, renal and liver disease, osteoporosis, obesity, hormonal dysfunction, arthritis and aging. Location: Kahler Grand Hotel, Rochester, MN (USA)
Date: Wednesday August 02 2006 - Saturday August 05 2006

An updated scheme of hemostasis will be reviewed to initiate discussion of bleeding and thrombosing diseases, followed by practical information about the more complicated disorders, including updates about testing, diagnosis, and management. Didactic presentations will be supplemented with case presentations and panel discussions, including review of differential diagnoses and appropriate laboratory testing.

2nd Annual Hemophilia and Thrombosis Research Society's Symposium - From Controversies to Consensus for Needed Clinical Trials

Location: Northwestern Memorial Hospital, 251 East Huron Street, Feinberg Pavilion, 3rd Floor, Conference Center, Chicago, IL (USA)
Date: Thursday April 20 2006 - Friday April 21 2006

2nd Annual Hemophilia and Thrombosis Research Society's Symposium
From Controversies to Consensus for Needed Clinical Trials

Jointly sponsored by the Hemophilia and Thrombosis Research Society and Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine (Office of Continuing Education)

The second annual HTRS symposium is scheduled for Thursday April 20th and Friday April 21st in Chicago Illinois sponsored by Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine. As the co-chairs, Eric Grabowski MD,ScD and Peter Kouides MD, we are planning this meeting with an "edge" in that it will not serve as a dogmatic review of the literature but rather as stimulus for potential HTRS studies and collaboration of present on-going initiatives. Consequently, the meeting, though open to all interested caregivers, researchers and allied professionals in the field of hemostasis and thrombosis, will be geared primarily to HTRS members and will have an emphasis on evidence based medicine and, equally important, the lack of evidence and need of further studies in various active clinical areas such as the Anti-Phospholipid Antibody Syndrome, Hemophilia inhibitors, tissue factor/microparticles, catheter thromboprophylaxis and novel agents in hemostasis.

Each of these sessions will be chaired by a prominent clinical researcher in that respective field with the charge to first give an overview of the outstanding issues in that area followed by several state of the art presentations highlighting on-going research followed by a question and answer session to stimulate further discussion regarding present and future clinical care and research opportunities. There will also be two 2 hour sessions entitled "Hot topics" in respectively hemostasis and thrombosis, with two presentations in each session reserved for the top four abstracts submitted by a trainee or junior faculty within 5 years from end of fellowship. There will also be a poster session to stimulate further discussion and collaboration. We believe these reserved oral and poster presentations are an essential part of the HTRS mission to foster productive clinical scholarship among junior members.

Finally, we feel it is equally important to understand the prior clinical initiatives that have brought us to our present state of understanding. Consequently, with this meeting we will institute an honorary lectureship to recognize the lifetime achievements of a distinguished colleague. We are pleased to announce that our first such distinguished colleague will be Dr. David Green of the Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine.

Date: Saturday December 03 2005 - Tuesday December 06 2005

ASH Katrina Relief Fund

While ASH successfully transferred all aspects of the 47th Annual Meeting and Exposition from New Orleans to Atlanta, the residents of New Orleans are never far from our thoughts as they start the slow process of rebuilding and revitalizing the city.

Hurricane Katrina disrupted the health care system throughout the entire Gulf Coast region, causing hospitals and doctors? offices to close and prompting patients to evacuate the area. ASH is concerned that patients with blood diseases and disorders may not be receiving adequate care due to the state of the health care infrastructure in the Gulf Coast area, particularly in New Orleans. By providing assistance to the university hospitals and the private practitioner community in New Orleans, the Society hopes to help in re-establishing a system that will provide top-notch care to hematology patients.

The ASH Katrina Relief Fund has been established to support the medical community as well as the hospitality industry in New Orleans and the surrounding area. Through this program, ASH plans to provide grants to the following organizations:

Help support the ASH Katrina Relief Fund by making a donation today. One hundred percent of contributions will be used to help re-establish hematology programs and to help those who work in the tourist industry in New Orleans. All administrative costs will be donated and no indirect costs will be allowed. ASH is proud to match individual contributions up to a total of $100,000. ASH is a 501(c)(3) educational and charitable organization; therefore, all contributions to this fund are tax-deductible.

Industry partners are also invited to support ASH's relief efforts. Please contact Karin Lombardi for more information.
