For research use only. Not for diagnostic procedures.

Composition and purity
Lyophilised powder of human plasminogen prepared from Cohn supernatant by affinity chromatography.
At least 95% of the plasminogen content is Glu-plasminogen. Contains lysine, sodium chloride and glucose.

  • Human Plasminogen 1.5 mg ± 0.5
  • Glucose 0.9 mg
  • Mannitol 20 mg
  • Lysine 1.8 mg
  • Sodium chloride 2.3 mg

Specific activity
20-40 CU/vial (batch specific).
CU/mg (CU= casein units according to Sqouris et al. Vox Sang 5,357 (1960)).

Application
Determination of streptokinase, tissue plasminogen activator (t-PA), plasminogen activator inhibitor (PAI) and soluble fibrin.

Properties
Plasminogen is prepared from Cohn supernatant I by affinity chromatography (modified procedure according to Deutsch D & Mertz E.T., Science 170, 1095-1096 (1970)).

Storage and Stability
The lyophilized powder is stable at 2-8°C until the expiry date printed on the label. After reconstitution the solution is stable for 8 hours at 2-8°C, 6 months at -20°C. Refreezing should be avoided.

Enzyme Activity Determination
Plasminogen activity can be measured following streptokinasemediated activation to plasmin, using the chromogenic substrates reported below:

  • S-2251, 25 mg vial S820332 (820332)
  • S-2403, 25 mg vial S822254 (822254)
